Frequently asked questions
- Is FD interest taxable?
- Yes. FD interest is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate. Banks deduct 10% TDS if interest crosses ₹40,000 a year (₹50,000 for senior citizens).
- How often is FD interest compounded?
- Most Indian banks compound FD interest quarterly. This calculator uses quarterly compounding, so the effective yield is slightly higher than the stated annual rate.
