- What is the current PPF interest rate?
- The PPF rate is set by the government every quarter and is 7.1% per annum as of 2026. Interest is calculated on the lowest balance between the 5th and last day of each month.
- Is PPF maturity taxable?
- No. PPF is in the EEE (exempt-exempt-exempt) category: your deposits qualify for Section 80C deduction, the interest is tax-free, and the maturity amount is fully exempt.
- What is the maximum PPF deposit per year?
- You can deposit up to ₹1.5 lakh per financial year across all your PPF accounts. The minimum is ₹500 a year to keep the account active.
